not your animated daria

Merry Christmas to hose of you who like naked ladies! Saw this editorial via Refinery 29 and Fashion Gone Rogue. These are some of the tamer pics but basically my ideal day would be spent like this: wrapped in nothing but amazing cozy oversized knits, prancing through a golden field... A girl can dream right?

beware the sheep, the robot
So over the past year or more, while shamelessly trolling sites like Lookbook and Chictopia, I've noticed a trend that I'm not really into. Think BLACK, leggings, tights or skinny jeans, with sky-high strappy platformy type shoes, a leather jacket or blazer, and usually some sort of Alexander Wang-esque t-shirt. Maybe there's a dress or two thrown in there or some sort of crazy shoulder pad, but it's all black and it all blends together in my mind. I WANT TO SEE SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
I'm not opposed to any of these items on their own, but all together all I can think of is a bunch of fashion robots taking themselves too seriously. I don't want to cite any examples because I don't think it would be fair to single anyone out.
Instead I've decide to show off some favorite photos from The Sartorialist to show some quirky, yet not at all unwearable alternatives to the black sheepwear of today (yes I realize many of them have a menswear bent, but hey, we all go through phases right?).

Etsy
Just a few things I've been drooling over on etsy:

Also, I've finally set up my own shop. I'm pretty happy with my finds but not so much with my pictures. For some reason I feel like a douchebag with a capital D when I get my picture taken so I avoided it all together. I'm gonna give it another try tomorrow though. Wish me luck.Check out what I've got so far:

inspiration in the afternoon
future perfect

So as I've gotten older I've found myself to be less and less interested in actual designers and much more inspired by style blogs and street style sights and the like. I spend more time in the thrift store and less at malls and boutiques. I've even cut down my magazine purchases by at least 90%. So it follows that new spring styles making their debut in mid-September might not hold much fascination for me....
That being said... I love Rachel Comey. I would wear these clothes in any season, of any year. And, AND, did you know that the s/s 2010line was inspired by coastal Maine? I LIVE in coastal Maine for crying out loud! I've gotta get my hands on these duds.
